Fund Awards $10,200 to Nonprofits in Southern Berkshire County

Great Barrington, MA — The South Berkshire County Fund, an endowment of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, announced grants to support programs and services ranging from educational internships to new computers to family education workshops. The South Berkshire County Fund provides grants for nonprofit groups serving Alford, Egremont, Great Barrington, Lee, Lenox, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, Otis, Richmond, Sandisfield, Sheffield, Stockbridge, Tyringham, and West Stockbridge.

The following nonprofit groups received grants:

Berkshire Bach Society: $500 for a development consultant to identify potential support and write grant proposals

The Flying Cloud Institute: $1,000 for development of a website.

Bidwell House: $1,000 for a museum internship program for high school students.

Friends of Yanner Park: $700 for a bi-annual newsletter.

Sandisfield Arts and Restoration Committee: $1,000 towards a handicap lift that will make it possible for elderly and disabled people to attend performances.

Unitarian Universalist Meeting of Southern Berkshire: $500 for its Outreach Speaker program, which brings people from around the world to speak on various human rights issues.

Southern Berkshire Educational Collaborative: $1,000 for listening and audio-visual education materials.

Sheffield Land Trust: $1,000 for the purchase of a new computer.

Share the Bounty: $1,500 for strategic planning.

Southern Berkshire Elderly Transportation Corporation: $1,000 for the purchase of a new computer and typewriter.

Southern Berkshire Youth Coalition: $1,000 for a parent education program which provides interactive tools for families.

A committee of local residents reviewed applications for the grant and made awards based on excellence of the project or service, its impact on the organization or community and the ability of the organization to carry out the project.
