William J. & Margery S. Barrett Fund

A school teacher who grew up in Adams, Margery Barrett (1910–2000) established this fund in 1995 to support the full range of projects to improve the quality of life in Adams, Cheshire and Savoy, including elder services, public arts, after school activities, environmental protection and health and human services.

Mrs. Barrett began the fund using stock she inherited from her father and husband, both of whom were employed at Specialty Minerals. She began the fund anonymously enjoying the community's surprised and eager reception of the Fund. She became known as the donor upon her death in 2000.
