William J. & Margery S. Barrett Fund
A school teacher who grew up in Adams, Margery Barrett (1910-1990) established the Fund for Adams, Cheshire and Savoy to support causes she cared about, including elder services, public arts, after school activities, environmental protection and other community programs.
Margery established this fund as a charitable remainder trust in 1995 using inherited stock. For several years, the fund awarded grants anonymously, giving Margery the joy of seeing her generosity support local organizations. After her death, the remainder of the trust was added to the fund and her name was publicly announced for the first time.
