Charles O'Brien of Williamstown Joins Board of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation

GREAT BARRINGTON, MA—Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation announced today that Charles O’Brien of Williamstown has joined its board of directors. Berkshire Taconic currently has $86 million in assets and more than 500 funds, and distributes more than $7 million in grants and scholarships each year. Mr. O’Brien joins 19 other local residents who comprise Berkshire Taconic’s board.

Mr. O’Brien is president and chief executive officer of South Adams Savings Bank.  He has been active on a number of boards, including the Northern Berkshire United Way, the Adams Lions Club, Berkshire Housing Development Corporation and the Berkshire Visitors Bureau.  He is past president of both the United Way and the Lions Club, and was recently elected vice chair of the Berkshire Housing Development Corporation. 

“We’re delighted to have Charles join us and look forward to benefiting from his financial expertise and extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations in northern Berkshire County,” said Carmi Rapport, board chair of Berkshire Taconic.

The foundation named two other new members:  J. Anthony “Tony” Sheldon of Sheffield, MA, founder and principal of Bering Consulting, a consulting firm working with nonprofits and small businesses; and Christopher Kennan, a private investor based in Pine Plains, New York.
