“A Winter Potpourri” Concert Will Benefit Region One Schools

January 12 , 2007

Great Barrington, MA —Tenor Monte Stone and pianist Anne Chamberlain will present “A Winter Potpourri of Song,” on Sunday, January 28 at 4 p.m. at the Salisbury Congregational Church. The concert will feature the music of Scarlatti, Schubert, and Duparc, as well as English and American folksongs. Proceeds from the concert will support The Education Collaborative (TEC), an initiative of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation that supports the six education enrichment funds of the Region One School District. Suggested donation at the door is $10 for adults, $5 for students.

“This will be a unique opportunity for the community to hear two wonderful local musicians while supporting our community’s children,” said Patricia Chamberlain, superintendent of Connecticut’s Region One School District. “The concert will be a great way to kick off a year of activities to raise money for our schools’ funds, which play a vital role in helping our children become good citizens as well as good students.”

Monte Stone is a tenor who has sung a wide variety of opera, oratorio, musical theater and recital repertoire, including the role of the preacher in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass at the Tanglewood festival, and as a soloist in Mozart’s G Minor Mass under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. Anne Chamberlain is a pianist who has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe. The two are thrilled to be partnered to benefit TEC.

The six educational enrichment funds supported by TEC are: the Arts Fund for Region One, Cornwall Consolidation School Fund for Excellence, Region One Athletic Fund, Salisbury Central School Educational Enrichment Fund, Sharon Center School Millennium Fund and 21st Century Fund for HVRHS. These funds support a range of programs and projects in the arts, education, athletics and other areas that can make the difference between a good education and an excellent one. The six funds are endowments of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.
