Wildes Fund Awards Grants to Five Salisbury Nonprofits

Great Barrington, MA— The Madeleine B. Wildes Fund today announced that it awarded grants totaling $13,490 to five nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Salisbury, CT. This year, the fund’s advisory committee continues to focus its grantmaking on programs that help people remain in their homes safely and comfortably. The Wildes Fund is a fund of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.

The fund awarded grants to the following groups.

VNA Northwest/Health Guidance Visits: $1,185 for visits by its nursing staff to monitor elderly residents.

Geer Adult Day Care Center: $1,302 for its Dial-A-Ride program, which provides non-emergency medical transportation and partnering with similar services so that residents can maintain their independence.

Jane Lloyd Fund: $5,000 for the fund’s efforts to provide financial help to cancer patients and their families.

Housatonic Child Care Center: $1,500 for scholarships.

EXTRAS Program Scholarships: $1,500 for program scholarships.

Madeline Wildes lived in Lakeville from 1917 until her death in 1962. When she died, the Lakeville Journal described her as, “warm, generous and kind. Mrs. Wildes had a rich talent for friendship, a genuine interest in people, and a staunch, unswerving loyalty to those she loved.” It is in this spirit that the Madeleine B. Wildes Fund was established in 1993 at Berkshire Taconic.
