GRANT GUIDELINES
WHO CAN APPLY
Students, teachers, administrators, parents and community members for projects that enhance and enrich the experience of the arts and humanities for students and teachers in the Ichabod Crane Central School District.
GRANT INFORMATION
The Ichabod Crane Central School District Arts and Humanities Fund is an endowed fund whose purpose is to enrich the experience in the arts and humanities for students and teachers in the Ichabod Crane Central School through the support of projects that promote educational excellence.
ELIGIBILITY
Grant applications will be accepted from students, teachers, administrators, parents, and organizations serving the school community.
Grants from the fund will not replace public dollars for the school district. Possible projects in the arts and humanities include, but are certainly not limited to: independent study; new programs; extracurricular creative projects, in or outside the classroom; visiting speakers; artists-in-residence; professional development resources, library resources; and class field trips. Preference will be given to activities that take place within the school community.
The arts and humanities are broadly defined and include all cultural and humanities disciplines.
Berkshire Taconic does not support organizations which in their constitution, by-laws, or practice, discriminate against a person or group on the basis of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or religious belief.
AWARDS
Grants awarded may range from $100 to $2,500. Grant money may be used for materials, travel and associated costs. For requests from individuals, preference will be given to projects that lead to a significant impact on the school. Grants from the fund will provide up to 75% of direct costs for pilot projects and up to 50% of direct costs of established projects.
Previously funded projects will only be considered for funding if a follow-up report was submitted for the prior grant. This does not replace the requirement for the applicant to complete a new grant application.
The range of grants awarded is dependent upon the number of applications and the amount available to grant.
REVIEW CRITERIA
Applications will be reviewed using the following criteria:
- Excellence: Is the project or service truly of a high quality? Is it the right time for the project? Does it involve qualified individuals/groups?
- Impact: What is the potential impact of the project or service on the community? This does not mean the number of people involved, but rather the quality of the impact.
- Ability: Is the project well thought out and feasible? The governing board of the Kinderhook Central School Education Foundation will review grant applications and forward recommendations for funding directly to the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation board of directors for final approval. For approved grants, the board may adjust requested funding as appropriate.
