SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Mark “Driller” Huber was a 1975 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School, and was the starting center for the Varsity Millionaires basketball team. In his junior year, he and his teammates won the Division 3 State Championship, the first team in the Western Massachusetts conference to do so. Mark’s senior year was highlighted by surpassing 1,000 high school career points.
Through basketball, Mark learned the values of hard work, team effort, commitment and community support. In 2004, Mark established his own business, Huber Painting. It was successful from the start because it was based on his work ethic: do your best, be fair, take pride in your work. His client list grew from reputation, not advertisement.
No one enjoyed life more. He lived as he believed – happiness comes from the love of family, lifelong friendships, new experiences and never taking life too seriously. Every day is an opportunity to meet new people, try something different, to learn and to laugh. He was a happy man.
He also believed that everyone who is willing to work hard should have the chance to fulfill their dreams. It is a privilege to give back to the community he loved, and that gave him so much in return.
