Graduating Lenox Memorial High School seniors who will attend an accredited school of higher education for the purpose of enriching self and world are eligible to apply.

Michael Hedges was a 2015 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School where he excelled academically and athletically. He graduated with high honors and was a standout athlete on the soccer, basketball, and track teams. After graduation he went on to attend Skidmore College. During his first semester at Skidmore, Michael was hit and killed by a drunk driver while he was walking near campus with his friends.

Michael is remembered for his many accomplishments, but he is remembered mostly for the impact he had on people. He is remembered for his kindness, his curiosity, his humility, his ease, his sensibility, his sense of humor, and his presence.

Michael knew what mattered. He paid attention. He loved his family, his friends, his dogs, and the outdoors. He especially loved the Adirondack Mountains where he spent every summer of his life.

Michael was a gentleman and a role model. He was a true teacher through his way of being.
