SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
Thomas (Tommy) was a 2002 graduate of Webutuck and died unexpectedly in 2008 from a brain aneurysm. His friends and family have made a commitment to Tommy's memory through an award to a graduating senior of Webutuck High School each year in his memory. The fund was established at Berkshire Taconic in 2014.
For those of us who knew and remember Tommy, his passion for soccer stands out. Tommy started playing soccer at four years old. The end of practice that very first day, he knew that he loved it. From that point on, he played soccer year round. He played for travel teams, premier teams, select teams and of course his high school team. His family traveled from Vermont to Virginia to attend games and tournaments. Tommy was an athlete and sports gave him the ability to meet new people and the confidence to always go out and try new things.
Tommy loved life and lived every day to the fullest. He made mistakes and he learned from them. He loved his life, his family and his friends. And he always loved to learn. After high school, Tommy went to college to play soccer. He loved college because he was able to expand his knowledge into areas he had never thought of and was challenged by ideas of professors and classmates from many varying backgrounds. Tommy did not always know what he wanted to do and he kept exploring new areas to study in order to find that one special thing that he wanted for his career. The one thing that always remained constant was Tommy's immense passion for anything he did.
