Community Engagement Officer for Northeast Dutchess County and Northwest Litchfield County
Aileen Meehan joined Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation in October 2022 as the Community Engagement Officer for Northeast Dutchess County and Northwest Litchfield County. As a liaison between community members, donors, local nonprofits and community leaders, Aileen works to build relationships, forge partnerships and facilitate the sharing of community and nonprofit resources. Through Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s grantmaking programs and partnerships, she helps evaluate critical community needs and strengthens community engagement. In her role as community engagement officer, she also supports Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s Center for Nonprofit Excellence, a leadership development fund helping nonprofits think strategically, govern effectively and operate efficiently. Aileen has over ten years of experience in program administration in the arts, finance and education. Most recently, she spent six years at the Santa Barbara County Education Office, where she helped operate a mentor-based program for new teachers. A highlight of Aileen’s career was opening her own eco-minded art gallery in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco, using art to start conversations and to bring understanding around important environmental issues. She holds two undergraduate degrees, one in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and one in Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography. She lives near her sister and parents in Pine Plains, New York, where she enjoys the outdoors, yoga, community theater and local excursions.
