John O’Brien retired in 2024 as managing director at the Rock Creek Group, a global investment firm, where he specialized in emerging market equities, external manager evaluation, and country allocation. Prior to Rock Creek, he was a senior portfolio manager at AllianceBernstein in London, overseeing portfolio construction for the firm’s $60 billion Global Growth Equities strategies. His career also includes serving as CEO of American Express Asset Management International and leadership roles at UBS and Nomura International. John holds an M.Phil. in international relations from Cambridge University and a B.A. in history from Vassar College. He is a board member and treasurer of the Berkshire Opera Festival and remains active in the arts community. John resides in North Canaan, Conn.
